What is Birthday in a Bag?

Every person needs some recognition of their birthday. However certain circumstances occur that might not make that possible. A Birthday-in-a-Bag can make a birthday more special. A Birthday-in-a-Bag is a self-contained gift bag with everything you need to have a Happy Birthday party.

Items for our birthday in a bag:

• Cake mix

• Frosting

• Candles

• Balloons

• Streamers

• Glitter

• Birthday Hat

• GS Snack Bar

• Card

• Optional: small gift

To participate:

• Bring 2 items from the list below to any meeting between now and November 3rd. We'll count how many items of each thing we have above and put the boxes together. Our goal is to have 10 complete birthday boxes.

The completed boxes will be donated to Pima County foster homes within the Arizona Children's Association.

Troop Leadership Activity - GS to Host a Troop Meeting

For 2012 Girl Scouts around the country have been celebrating “The Year of The Girl”.  To further this theme we would like for each girl to “host” a troop meeting.  During the meeting the girl leads she will be responsible for:

• leading the troop in a song

• leading the troop in a game

• leading the troop in an activity. 

The girl scout can work with her parent to develop the activities for her meeting but during the meeting it should be all about the girl taking a leadership role, mom or dad is there just for moral support (and maybe to serve as timekeeper).  

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

1. First, pick a meeting date that you would like to host.
2. Figure out a topic/interest you would like to share with the rest of the troop. 
3. Notify your troop leader/co-leader about your interest and together we'll figure out what badge the troop can earn from your activity. 

2013 Cookie T-shirt Design Contest - We WON!!

Earlier this week we were alerted that Anika, Anja, and Caley won the 2013 cookie T-shirt contest!! in addition to a few other designs, their design will be featured on the southern arizona 2013 cookie T-shirt and their names will be featured in the cookie program. I'm not sure if I've said this recently but you ladies rock!!

Uniforms

The girls have accomplished quite a bit since January and it is evident in the number of badges they earned. We would like for each girl to have a sash, at the minimum, to display their badges. There is currently a huge sale at the GS store where you can purchase a sash, t-shirts, troop number, etc. We will discuss in detail at the September 15th meeting the specifics of the uniform. It’s a great way to display your accomplishments and show your GS pride!

Girl Scout/Parent Registration Renewal

It is time again to renew the membership for your Girl Scout and your parent/volunteer membership. Current memberships end September 30th, 2012. One-year membership fees are $12 for the girl and $12 for the parent volunteer. Membership dues help support activities and services provided by GS Council.
